HANDICAP ACCESS: Handicap parking and handicap access to the library is provided at the entrance to the new wing at the lower parking lot. This recent addition connects with both the Northfield Historical Society on the left and the Brown Public Library on the right, and also houses the town's Community Room. Library staff maintain the schedule for use of this room. Here is a guide to entering the library via the new wing.

Ground Floor of New Wing:
When you enter the new wing at the ground floor, you will see straight ahead a handicap accessible restroom and, to the right of it, an elevator that goes up to the second floor of the building. As you see below, the work of young artists from Northfield schools is sometimes exhibited in the new wing and the Northfield Historical Society.

Immediately to the right of the ground floor entrance is the door to the Northfield Community Room, shown here. A door to the left connects with the Northfield Historical Society, which was the former residence of Charles Paine, an ex-governor of Vermont in the 19th century.

Second Floor of New Wing:
On the second floor there is another handicap accessible restroom adjacent to the elevator.

And just a few feet from the elevator is the door into the library.

Go through the door--and here you are on the main floor of the library.

On the other side of the library, by the upper parking lot, is an inviting table with benches carved from Vermont granite.
